The Derya ZY9 is a range of semi-automatic personal defense guns manufactured by the Turkish manufacturer Derya Arms. While the business is best renowned for its large array of tactical, defensive, hunting, and sports shotguns, the Derya ZY9 is a sleek and dependable collection of 9mm Luger-caliber handguns.
These guns are robustly built, lightweight, and extremely functional, making them perfect for personal defense, home and property protection, and duty use, notably by private security personnel. The Derya ZY9’s design promotes convenience and efficiency, with an emphasis on guaranteeing a rapid and dependable response in high-stress conditions.
Derya ZY9: The Turkish Close Combat Solution
The Derya ZY9 is a firearm specifically designed for close-quarters combat. Its ergonomic design and lightweight construction make it both effective and comfortable to use. The Derya ZY9 has an effective range of 100 meters when equipped with a 5.9-inch barrel and 200 meters when equipped with a 10-inch barrel. It is capable of firing 800 rounds per minute.
Notably, regardless of the availability of a stock, the Derya ZY9 line would be considered handguns in most of Europe. This is because the ratio of barrel length to overall length determines the distinction between a pistol and a rifle.
In contrast, the United States only classifies the baseline Derya ZY9 B6 as a pistol. The other variations are categorized as Short Barrel Rifles (SBRs) and are subject to NFA (National Firearms Act) requirements.
Design
The Derya ZY9 series is a collection of high-quality semiautomatic rifles that are lightweight and sturdy. The firearms feature a black aluminum alloy upper and lower receiver that is hard-anodized. These rifles are available in two different barrel lengths – 15 cm / 5.9″ or 25 cm / 10″. The Derya ZY9 series is designed to use 9mm Luger Glock magazines of any capacity, making them extremely versatile.
The Derya series includes a basic straight blowback functioning method, providing an optimal combination of simplicity, dependability, ease of use, and maintenance.
The rifles have a 22mm Picatinny rail, enabling for the attachment of a variety of accessories, as well as a collapsible mechanical visor and an adjustable stock. The M-LOK handguard and control layout reminiscent of the AR-15 contribute to the weapon’s versatility.
The Derya ZY9 family of weapons has a weight range of 1.8 to 2 kg (3.9 to 4.4 lbs.), depending on the configuration. These weapons have the feature of being field-stripped in the same way as an AR-15. The grip of these weapons is compatible with AR-15, and they can be customized with an M4-type buffer tube and collapsible buttstock.
In addition, the factory equips each model with a full-length MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for optics and a set of detachable polymer flip-up sights.
Variants
There are currently four models of the Derya , each with unique features. The Derya ZY9 B6 is a semi-automatic handgun with a rear screw-on cover and a sling swivel. On the other hand, the Derya ZY9 B6-10 AD is a short-barrel rifle with a PDW-type completely collapsible buttstock.
The Derya ZY9 B6-10 AR short-barrel rifle is equipped with a 6-position telescopic buttstock that is mounted on an M4-type buffer tube. The Derya ZY9 B6-10 CH short-barrel rifle is similar to the B6-10 AR model except for the charging handle, which is an AR-15 type instead of a side-mounted cocking handle like the other models in the line.
The Derya ZY9 B6 is also available as a submachine gun version that is intended for use by military, law enforcement, and government personnel. This version has a cyclic rate of 800 rounds per minute in full-automatic fire.
