Russia is about to exercise with 50,000 troops and more than 5,000 weapons.

Moscow announced the organization of the Vostok-2022 exercise with the participation of tens of thousands of troops and equipment from Russia and many partner countries next month.

“The Vostok-2022 exercise will take place from September 1-7 under the command of the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, with offensive and defensive contents at seven training ranges,” the Defense Ministry said. Russia released a statement today.

The Russian military said that the exercise will revolve around a synergistic approach between allied forces to repel a hypothetical enemy in the east of Russia and the waters of the country’s the Far East.

The participants will also seek to improve their ability to cooperate to protect each other’s security and national interests.

“We want you to see that only a part of the Russian armed forces is participating in the operation in Ukraine, and that number is enough to fulfill all the tasks set forth by the Commander-in-Chief,” the ministry said. Russian Defense said at the end of July.

The Russian military announced that it will not cancel any training or international cooperation and that the exercises will be provided with the necessary personnel, weapons, and equipment.

Started in 2009, Vostok is one of four annual Russian strategic exercises, which alternate between military regions in the country.
