A source close to the issue told Kyodo News on Saturday that China is considering raising its nuclear weapons stockpile to 900 by 2035, as tensions with the United States are projected to increase further over Taiwan.
The plan, drafted by the People’s Liberation Army, has been authorized by Chinese President Xi Jinping, the military chief, who has been eager to increase Beijing’s deterrent against the United States, according to a report quoting Chinese sources.
The United States anticipated in 2022 that Beijing is on track to raise its stockpile of nuclear warheads to 1,500 by 2035 when it aims to finish military modernization. This aligns with the CCP’s efforts to boost the country’s military capabilities.

“On Wednesday, after receiving information on the balloon, I ordered the Pentagon to shoot it down as soon as possible. They made their choice without causing any harm to those below. They figured out that the best time was when it was over the ocean, beyond the boundary, but still within the allowed 12-mile radius.”
“They successfully removed it. And I would want to commend our aviators for their efforts. And we’ll have more to say about this shortly, “Moreover, he added:
